Dear Participant,

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this important research study.

You were chosen because you have expressed some interest in pursuing graduate school in psychology in the future, and therefore your opinions are extremely valuable!

The goal of this research is to gain an understanding of what prospective graduate students in psychology (that's you!) value in a graduate program, so that we can more effectively prepare the next generation of professional psychologists.

In the next 30-45 minutes, you will be perusing a website for a graduate program in psychology. Although this program is fictitous, please imagine that it is a real program to which you could apply.

Your job is to do the following:

  • Imagine that you are currently undergoing a search of graduate programs in psychology and plan to apply for admission for Fall 2006.
  • Begin with the "Home" page and continue with each subsequent page by clicking on the arrow at the bottom of each page.
  • Read each page carefully once.
  • Click on any links that appear within the text of the page.
  • When you reach the last page ("FAQs"), continue on to the survey.
  • Continue in the role of prospective graduate student as you complete the survey.
  • Please answer as honestly as possible.
